Bordelaise Sauce

This classic French Bordelaise sauce is made with red wine and beef bone broth for a velvety smooth rich sauce. You can serve this sauce with your favorite steak for a dinner that would rival any great steakhouse!


Servings: 4 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes


Ingredients

2 cups red wine
2 cups beef bone broth (use code TRAILTOHEALTH for $15 off)
2 shallots, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh thyme
1 teaspoon sea salt


Directions

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients except the broth and bring to a boil.

2. Continue to cook until about half of the liquid has been reduced.

3. Add the beef broth and bring to a boil again.

4. Use a spoon to discard any fat/foam that has appeared on the top and continue to cook until the sauce has thickened.

5. Pour the sauce through a fine mesh sieve into a serving bowl and serve over any meat.
