Nothing says the holiday season is here more than the flavor of peppermint and chocolate and this actually happens to be one of my favorite flavor combinations! This decadent Hot Cocoa pairs Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark with a clean and simple frothy hot chocolate that will let your taste buds know the holidays have arrived.

Servings: 2 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

1 cup chocolate chips or melting wafers
6 Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares, finely chopped
1 cup, milk of choice, I used coconut milk
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, depending on desired sweetness
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares

Directions

1. On a cutting board, place 6 unwrapped Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark and finely chop with a knife into shavings and set aside.

2. In a double boiler over low heat, warm the chocolate chips or melting wafers until fully melted. You can also use a glass bowl and melt in your microwave if you do not have a double boiler.

3. Pour the melted chocolate or wafers into a shallow and wide bowl.

4. Dip the rim of your mugs into the melted chocolate or wafers and then dip into the Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark shavings until the entire rim is lined with the Peppermint Bark shavings.

5. Put the mugs in the fridge to harden for about 5-10min until the rim sets.

6. While the mugs are hardening, put your milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla in a milk frother and run through the warm frothing setting.

7. Pour into the peppermint bark lined mugs and top with whipped cream if desired.

8. Pair with Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares and enjoy the delicious flavor of peppermint and hot cocoa!
